How To Download Discord 64 Bit
Discord has always been gamer's primary choice for instant messaging and voice chat application. It is especially popular now since the appearance of a trending game called Among Us which the players would use Discord for their main voice comm in game. Regardless of the purpose, discord is a great app for VOIP and group conversations.
There are two ways you can use discord on a Windows PC:
- You can download and install Discord on your PC and run it as a standalone app,
- or you can choose to not install anything and use discord directly from a browser (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, Edge) – more info below.
How to download Discord for Windows 10 PC (64-bit or 32-bit)
The offline installer for latest version of Discord can be downloaded from Discord's official download page here.
The download page should be able to detect the OS you are using right now and show you the correct download button. If you're using Windows 10 or any version equivalent to or higher than Windows 7, you should see a "Download for Windows" button on the page. Click on it to download the latest version of Discord offline installer.
Once the download is completed, run the DiscordSetup.exe to begin the installation. Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the installation. After it's installed, you should then be able to run it directly from your desktop as a standalone app without the help of a browser.
But Discord setup shows "Installation has failed"…
Well, if you see the "installation has failed" error as soon as you run the Discordsetup.exe, it is most likely because Discord already exists on your PC, or that it was previously installed but yet to be properly uninstalled.
To fix this error, you will have to do a clean uninstall of your previous Discord installation. To do so in Windows 10, go to Settings > Apps, select Discord from the list of apps and then click "Uninstall" to remove the app.
If it still doesn't work or that you can't see Discord from the list of apps, remove the Discord folders in the following directory on your PC:
- C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Local
- C:\Users\[your username]\AppData\Roaming
If you get the error saying "Folder in use: This Action can't be completed because the file or folder is open in another program" while trying to remove the folders, it is because Discord is still running on your PC. You will have to terminate its process in the task manager before you can remove the folders. To do so, right click on your task bar, select Task Manager. Locate Discord from the list of running processes, and click on End task to terminate the process.
How to use Discord on a Browser (Firefox, Chrome or Microsoft Edge)
To start using Discord right away on a browser without the need of installing the app, head over to discord.com and click on the "Open Discord in your browser" button, or simply go to https://discord.com/app.
If you already have a Discord account, fill in your email and password to login to your existing Discord account. If you don't, click on the register button right below the form to sign up for a new account.
Alternatively, if you already have Discord mobile app installed and logged in, you can simply open the app and scan the QR code on your computer's screen to quickly login to your account without the need of filling anything.
